on Queen Christina
A Nod to a Queen
Known for her intellect, defiance, and individuality, Queen Christina of Sweden (1626–1689) was anything but ordinary. By her teens, she had mastered eight languages and founded what is now the world’s oldest running newspaper. In Philadelphia areas such as Queen Village and Swedesboro, NJ are references to her influence and reign.
However at the age of 28 she abdicated the throne, rejecting traditional marriage expectations with the quip, “It takes more courage to marry than to go to war,” sending shockwaves through Sweden.
Her refusal to conform and her rumored romance with female friend Ebba Sparre only fueled her legend. In Christina's later years she moved into a Roman palazzo surrounded by art and books, where she embodied a fearless pursuit of a life outside convention.
The Ebba Sparre Sauna Collective draws from Christina’s unapologetic spirit, offering an experience rooted in resilience and individuality. It’s a vibrant homage to a woman who redefined what it meant to rule.
So come sweat it out like the queen who redefined royal vibes — because history is hotter than you think 🔥
